Barclays was named overall winner at the Personnel Today Awards on Monday night. The company won the top prize of the evening after winning the award for the new Youth Employment Initiative category.

The Personnel Today Awards are the most recognisable awards in the HR profession, recognising and rewarding the achievements of both teams and individuals in human resources who have made outstanding contributions. The awards recognise best practice in HR across 18 categories plus the Overall Award for HR Excellence.

Barclays won the award for their youth employment initiative, an apprenticeship programme for young people not in education, employment or training (NEETs). The judges were particularly impressed by the scheme’s focus on identifying talent and engaging with the communities they serve.

This year’s Overall Award was sponsored by leading international HR and finance software provider, Talentia Software. Julie Windsor, Managing Director of Talentia Software UK presented the Overall Award to Barclays. “Barclays have demonstrated outstanding commitment in tackling youth unemployment. Their initiative which identifies talent amongst NEETs for their apprenticeship scheme is admirable,” said Julie “It was a fantastic evening – congratulations to all the winners and everyone who made the shortlists for the awards, it’s great to celebrate such achievement in HR.”
